This article examines the impact of Antônio Augusto Cançado Trindade's defense of International Law for Humanity on the jurisprudence of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), with an emphasis on human rights. The case of Extradition n.1.362 was chosen because of the variety of human rights and international norms that are addressed. The method chosen was case analysis, using bibliographic and documental research techniques. In conclusion, the immense potential of using Cançado Trindade's work to scrutinize and eventually serve as a basis or support for new STF precedents that deal with international human rights norms was confirmed.
